Sunrooms provide a three-season living space that can be a relaxing oasis away from it all. They provide the benefit of feeling like you are outdoors without having to deal with insects and other irritants. You can decorate a sunroom as a beach to increase that feeling of having an oasis away from all of your troubles. Just a few decor items and some paint are all you need to bring the outside in. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
- 1
Paint the walls of the sunroom in beach-themed colors. To evoke a beach feel, use colors such as blue, green, white or sand for walls. For a different twist, you can paint the walls using an ombre or gradient style with a combination of all of those colors. Start with light blue at the top for about 2 to 3 feet in height, then blend this with a darker blue for another 2 to 3 feet and then finish at the bottom with a sand color to bring the whole idea of the beach together. The finished effect will look like the sky, water and sand.
2Add a sisal rug to the floor of the sunroom. Sisal is a durable fabric that typically comes in a sand color. This will add to the feeling of having your room feel like a beach by incorporating natural colors and fibers into your design.
3Add in white Adirondack chairs. Adirondack chairs, while outdoorsy in feel, are comfortable and will give the room the feeling of having deck chairs and being outside.
4Place small white tables around the room. These tables will be used to display beach themed items and can serve as handy storage places for drinks and books or whatever you use to relax in your sunroom. A white coffee table in front of the chairs will finish off the space.
5Decorate the room with beach themed items. If you have shells that you collected while on vacation, display these on your tables. Shells can also be purchased at home design stores if you do not have any on hand. Use a small, shallow box and fill it with sand and smaller shells. Place this on the coffee table in front of the chairs.
6Hang framed travel posters or prints on walls. Pick posters of your favorite destinations or beach prints and frame them. Place them on the walls around your sunroom to bring the entire beach theme together.
