How to Use Plexiglass

Plexiglass, also called an acrylic sheet, is a see-through substance similar to glass panels but safer, as it doesn't shatter or cut like glass can. You can use plexiglass in place of traditional glass in a variety of applications to make your home safer. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Replace glass panels in interior doors with plexiglass. They're less likely to break and cause injury, and give the same appearance as glass panels.

    2

Remove the glass from picture frames and use plexiglass for pictures you plan to ship. Plexiglass won't shatter and damage the picture beneath.

    3

Top a base with plexiglass to create a side table. Plexiglass is a good way to top a wicker trunk or basket and protect the wicker from damage and provide a stable surface for knick knacks or a coffee cup.

    4

Eliminate the weight of large posters on your wall by removing the glass and using plexiglass to protect the image below.

    5

Secure plexiglass panels across the bottom of a window frame to prevent children from falling. This is most effective with windows that open from the top, or in rooms where your child's bed has to be near a window.

    6

Use plexiglass in place of traditional dry erase boards. You can mount the plexiglass to a wall or your refrigerator using magnets to provide your kids with an inexpensive, unique dry erase surface.
