Centerpieces are essentially the heart of your tables, and serve to add decor and detail to your reception venue. For a Christmas-themed wedding, the centerpieces you use should reflect the holiday as well as the formality of your event. From candles to Christmas wreaths, there are several different ideas you can use to decorate your reception tables.
Poinsettias
While roses are a traditional floral centerpiece for weddings, an arrangement of red or white poinsettias is a more appropriate choice for a Christmas-themed wedding. You may choose to have the flowers still attached to the plant in a decorative pot, or cut the flowers from the plant and attach them to floral wire arranged in a crystal vase for a more formal event.
Miniature Christmas Trees
A miniature Christmas tree placed in the center of each of your reception tables will reflect the Christmas spirit. Decorate each tree with ornaments in your wedding colors to make it coordinate with both your color scheme and your wedding theme. These trees can also be used to decorate the card table, cake table or even buffet tables in your venue to reflect your theme throughout the reception hall.
Floating Candles
For a soft, romantic centerpiece idea, consider using floating candles to add ambiance to your Christmas-themed reception. Fill crystal bowls with water and red, green or silver glitter and top them off with red or green floating candles. The lit candles will catch the sparkle of the glitter in the water, creating a visually stunning effect.
Bowls of Ornaments
For a very simple Christmas-themed centerpiece, fill crystal bowls with different-colored bulb ornaments with the hook side facing down. Delicately painted ornaments will add more detail than solid-colored ones, and will keep to your theme without being too over the top.
Wreath Candles
If you love the way candle centerpieces look and want to add a Christmas-inspired touch, consider surrounding red pillar candles with small pine wreaths. The wreaths will add decoration to the bottoms of your candles and will reflect the spirit of the Christmas season.
