When decorating tables for Halloween, you can be imaginative and make your own decorations, or you can use store-bought decorations to transform your tables into graveyards, outdoor pumpkin patches or standard table settings that feature holiday tablecloths. Even if you have a table that holds a small lamp, you can transform it to reflect a Halloween theme. Does this Spark an idea?
Tablecloths
Tablecloths can be purchased with gruesome themes, such as bloody handprints or splatters. Use the tablecloths as backdrops for other Halloween themes, such as graveyards, and for displaying skulls or crystal balls and candles. Other types of holiday tablecloths are available in Halloween colors, which can be integrated into autumn scenery on the table.
Graveyards
Miniature graveyards have become popular for those who want something a bit unusual for the tables or mantels. If you have a coffee table, cover it with spider webbing, and place little headstones and caskets on the table---the effect will be one of a foggy graveyard. Add a few skulls or battery-operated candles to the graveyard.
Mugs and Skulls
Tabletops can be decorated with skull mugs and skulls. Create a body-parts theme for your table with dismembered hands, skulls and eyes. Battery-operated skulls that feature illuminated eyes can be very scary when you turn off the lights.
Pumpkins, Leaves and Gourds
If you do not want to embrace the ghoulish aspects of Halloween, decorate with a fall theme on the table. Use dried leaves, small pumpkins and gourds to make a centerpiece that can be left on your table through Thanksgiving. Centerpieces are attractive additions to tables in the dining room or living room. You can even carry the centerpiece themes to your dresser and nightstand if you want to decorate your bedroom.
Candelabra and Crystal Balls
Surround the bases of crystal balls and candelabras with spider webbing. Using battery-operated candles instead of lighting wax candles allows you to decorate without fear of causing a fire. The availability of so many different crystal balls and candle sets makes it possible for you to create a different type of theme in every room.
Lights
Purchase Halloween table lamps, or make your own. Replace a white shade with a black shade, and use a stencil kit to paint Halloween designs on the lampshades in orange or white. You can use the shades for years.
Warnings
If you are using real candles, be very careful about placing other materials around them. When possible, use battery-operated candles with your decorations to prevent possible fires.
