How to Decorate a Front Hallway

Your entrance hallway is the first impression you make on your guests or potential buyers. The space needs to be useful but tastefully decorated to ensure that this first impression is a good one. With a little planning, you can create an entrance hall that is welcoming to visitors and serves your purposes as well. This effort will make your home better organized and make it more welcoming to your guests. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Evaluate your space to see what you need. If you do not have a closet in your hallway, add an armoire to hang coats and scarves.

    2

Place a small half-table against one wall to hold keys and mail. This is an effective way to organize as you walk in the door, as well as an attractive addition to the space. If you have room, you can display a trinket or two on the table as well. If you do not have room for the table, add a hanging organizer to the wall for your keys and mail.

    3

Hang pictures of your family on the walls. This allows visitors to see your family, and it keeps the old pictures organized and safe.

    4

Paint the ceiling a light color to brighten the room. For example, a sky blue, with some painted clouds, would brighten the area and create a conversation starter. Other bright colors would be effective as well.

    5

Add a decorative floor mat as a complement for the rest of the decor. The practical nature of the decoration will add to its usefulness in the hallway.
