Thanksgiving Holiday Table Decoration Ideas

Thanksgiving Holiday Table Decoration Ideas

Thanksgiving is a time for family to gather and enjoy food, drink, and conversation, and much of the holiday is celebrated around the dinner table. Create an environment that is warm and inviting by utilizing creative table decorations. Make table decorations that reflect the season and will be a pleasing backdrop for the Thanksgiving meal. Does this Spark an idea?

Floating Candles With Fall Flora

Intermingle candles in floating candle holders with pine cones and fall leaves to provide a display of candlelit illumination and gently drifting fall flora. Gather small, unblemished pine cones and leaves that have turned yellow, red and orange. Float them together with the candles in glass bowls filled with water. Add potpourri or used scented candles if you want to add scent.

Miniature Turkeys

Turn the center of the table into pasture of turkeys for table decorations with a sense of humor. Make turkeys that are full of personality using fabric, yarn, pom-poms, felt, pipe cleaners and googly eyes. Use large pom-poms to create the turkey bodies then use smaller pom-poms for the heads. Looped pipe cleaners and feather-shaped pieces of felt and fabric-covered card stock can all be used to create feathers. Cut a little yellow triangle out of felt for the beak and a little red strip for the wattle.

Carved Pumpkins

Pumpkins are a quintessential fall and winter vegetable. Turn hollowed out pumpkins into lanterns and flower vases for the Thanksgiving table. Turn pumpkins into Thanksgiving lanterns by tracing the outlines of maple leaves or turkeys on the side of the pumpkin, carving it with a craft knife and placing a tea candle inside. For pumpkin vases, fill hollowed-out pumpkins with flowers that have Thanksgiving colors, such as yellow sunflowers, red and yellow daisies, yellow and red carnations, yellow and gold chrysanthemums, brown roses, and orange zinnia. Instead of flowers, another option is to fill the pumpkins with bunches of dried, golden stalks of wheat.
